The college has a wide range of higher education courses on offer in partnership with leading institutions such as Bangor, Wrexham Glyndwr, Liverpool John Moores, Swansea, and Aberystwyth universities, in addition to programmes run alongside Pearson, the national awarding body.

Subjects include Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering, Animal Management, Creative Media Production, Health and Social Care, Mechanical Technology, Teaching, Tourism and Hospitality, Sound Engineering, and Sport.

Emma Hurst, Dean of Higher Education and an assistant principal at Cambria, says there has been growing interest in their provision as school and college learners look ahead to the 2022/23 academic year.

“One of the reasons is that due to the pandemic more and more learners are choosing to study closer to home,” said Emma.

“Another is our growing links with leading universities, and the option to gain a degree through Coleg Cambria as a natural pathway from school or an FE qualification.

“The opportunity to achieve a degree with the college – which is at the heart of communities across north east Wales, has incredible facilities and a first-class level of support and pastoral care – is a major USP for them.”

She added: “The drop-in events are an opportunity for prospective learners and their families to come and see what we have to offer and speak to lecturers in a comfortable environment.

“We have already had very positive feedback and look forward to welcoming people to the sessions in the weeks ahead.”

Coleg Cambria, which has sites in Wrexham, Llysfasi, Deeside and Northop, recently unveiled a new higher education website and guide in partnership with the universities.

Emma said: “To reinforce our commitment to HE we launched the dedicated website and guide with all of the information students and their families will need, from fees and finance to student support and guidance on what subject will best fit their chosen career.

“All of the courses are designed with employment in mind and tailored with our university and industry partners to meet the needs of the students and their future prospects.”

The summer drop-in events will be held at Yale, Wrexham, on Tuesday July 19 from 10am-7pm, and Deeside from 10am-7pm on Wednesday July 27.
