LFTs are still available from Student Services at all College sites and at the Engineering Department Reception point at the Deeside site. Alternatively they are available from local pharmacies and are currently free of charge in Wales.

If you do receive a positive result (either LFT or PCR) you should self-isolate immediately (even if you have received the vaccine). Anyone who has tested positive for COVID 19 should return to College only when they have returned two consecutive negative LFT tests from day 5 onwards or on day 10, whichever is sooner.

You also need to inform the College of your absence via the Student Hub choosing the option COVID-19 Positive Lateral Flow Test Self-Isolation. Your tutors will get in touch with you to arrange for online learning so that you can continue with your studies from home.

Following the latest announcement by the Welsh Government there will no longer be a mandatory requirement for learners to wear a face covering on College transport or in any of the College indoor areas with the exception of:

Specific classrooms where a decision has been made by lecturers staff to require learners to continue to wear a face covering as a cautionary measure to support those present who may be at an increased risk of illness from coronavirus. These classrooms will be clearly signed and your lecturers will remind you.

If you have any coronavirus symptoms (a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss or change of taste or smell), you must self-isolate at home and get a test. You must not come onto campus. Instead, please notify the College of your absence through the Student Hub and follow the government’s self-isolation guidelines and NHS advice to take a LFT test. If the lateral flow test is negative you can end self isolation and attend college if you feel well enough.

If you are notified that you have been identified as a close contact by NHS Test, Trace Protect via email or text, or by someone who has tested positive directly, you do not need to self-isolate but should be vigilant for the main COVID-19 symptoms and:

• Pay close attention to the main symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop any of these symptoms, order a LFT test. You are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people while you are waiting for your test result
• Minimise contact with the person who has COVID-19
• Avoid contact with anyone you know who is at higher risk of becoming severely unwell if they are infected with COVID-19, especially those with a severely weakened immune system
• Limit close contact with other people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces
• Wear a face covering made with multiple layers in indoor crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces and where you are in close contact with other people
• Wash your hands regularly and cover coughs and sneezes.

You should follow this advice for 10 days after being in contact with the person who tested positive.
